Kayaking the Potomoc

This past weekend I decided to finally go to an event through meetup.com and went to an event organized by the Potomac River Keepers. I had been kayaking a few times before but never in DC even though I've been meaning to. The fee for the event included two hours of kayaking/canoeing/standup paddle boarding beginning with a guided tour. I ended up showing up a bit late (no surprise there) so I had to catch up to the group which was already way upriver. The forecast had originally said rain but it turned out being a totally perfect day for kayaking; bright and sunny but not too hot.

Getting a late start

Finally catching up

This was a bald eagle, flying over the capitol. Doesn't get much more patriotic than that.

I have no recollection of what this bridge is called

Georgetown

This is where I felt like Pochahontas

  1. I'm glad you caught up. It's much prettier than I imagined.
